NVX JAD Amplifiers
The NVX commitment to quality, performance, and usability is perhaps best exemplified in the JAD series amplifiers. The faithful audio reproduction is complemented by the striking minimalist design of the ultra-compact chassis. With a footprint roughly the size of a sheet of printer paper and well under 2” thick, the JAD amplifiers are an installer’s dream. They easily stashed under the seat of a sedan, behind the seat of a truck, in the small trunk of a roadster, or an infinite number of other mounting possibilities. The amps are remarkably tough inside and out, from the strong aluminum housing to the 3-way protection circuit with LED indicators.
To reduce the size of the chassis, the NVX engineering team employed advanced Class D circuitry. In addition to its compact size, this circuit provides the benefit of incredible efficiency, making the most out of the limited power available from your car’s electrical system. Since more of the battery power is turned into real amp power, this design generates minimal heat. A revolutionary chip designed by International Rectifier (affectionately known as the IR Chip) eliminates high-frequency interference sometimes associated with older Class D circuits. The result of this design is a pristine audio signal with the requisite power to breathe new life into your sound system.
JAD amplifiers are currently available in 3 models, each of which can be used independently or complementary to each other, depending on your system layout and goals. The JAD1200.1 is the only monoblock in the series, but with an RMS power output ranging from 500 to 1200 watts it is incredibly flexible, and can be used to achieve nearly any level of bass desired. The amp is 1 ohm stable for maximum compatibility and power output, and features both low-pass and subsonic high-pass filters to finely tune your subwoofer. For convenience and quick adjustability, the JAD1200.1 comes complete with a remote bass level control knob.

CEA-2006 Compliant: The CEA-2006 Standard is an official testing and measurement method for amplifiers established by the Consumer Electronics Association. In order to standardize the power ratings of mobile amplifiers, the CEA-2006 compliancy ratings where established to inform the customer that they are getting the wattage that they paid for. In defining this standard, CEA tests and rates the ”performance of amplifiers designed for use in mobile (vehicle) applications”. This statement found on the CEA website continues to define the types of amplifiers that they will test. It is applicable for single channel and multi channel amplifiers that rely on the vehicle’s primary electrical system and have a power output of greater than 5 watts. When an amplifier is tested, CEA uses the following method to ensure that the ratings are consistent.

- Tested at 14.4 Volts
- 4-ohm Impedance load
- <1% THD (Total Harmonic Distortion)
When looking for an amplifier, it is important to see if the manufacturer has received a CEA-2006 compliancy for the amplifier. If so, then the ratings can be trusted at the advertised wattage. If they are not CEA certified, it could mean one of two things. First, the manufacturer has not submitted the amp for testing and it may or may not perform as advertised. Second, the specifications of the amp are not considered to be CEA-2006 compliant.
This rating applies to both external car amplifiers, as well as the amplifiers inside of in-dash stereos.

1. What is a subsonic filter?
The subsonic filter will block out low frequencies that could cause damage to the subwoofer. A fixed subsonic filter is non-adjustable while a variable subsonic filter can be adjusted between a range of frequencies.
2. What is a low-pass filter?
The low-pass filter (LPF) will block out high frequencies that could cause damage to speakers. This filter can also be used with subwoofers to "blend" the lower frequencies of a subwoofer to the higher frequencies fo speakers.
3. What is a high-pass filter?
The high-pass filter (HPF) will block out low frequencies that could cause damage to speakers. This filter can also be used with subwoofers, having the same effect as a subsonic filter.
4. Why are NVX amplifiers Class D and not Class A/B?
It all comes down to efficiency. Class D circuitry has MOSFET transistors that turn on and off very rapidly, conserving power for every millisecond they are turned off, whereas Class A/B MOSFET transistors are always on. This adds up in the long run, reducing current draw and increasing the power output of the amplifier. Class D circuitry also allows us to fit all the performance and quality of a large class A/B amp into a much smaller amplifier chassis.
5. Are NVX amplifiers pretty efficient?
Very efficient. NVX JAD amplifiers have high input to output efficiency due to their Class D circuitry. Class D circuitry uses binary switches that turn the amplifier’s power completely on and off. This allows for almost no voltage loss and prevents power dissipation.
6. Is the gain control on my amplifier really a volume control?
Absolutely not. The gain knob is used to match the output voltage of the source unit to the input voltage of the amplifier. When the gain or input level knob is turned up too far, you are clipping the signal and causing distortion.
7. My amplifier keeps going into protection mode. Is it broken?
NVX amplifiers are designed to protect the internal components from damage that could normally occur from installation error, faulty stereo equipment or excess heat. If you notice the red indicator is lit up on your amplifier, your amplifier is in protection mode. The amp will automatically turn itself off if there is a speaker short, if there is overheating, or if there is a speaker impedance overload.
